🌸Understanding Your Skin :

Your skin type needs different care because what works for someone else may not work for you. Therefore, understanding your skin is the first step before choosing any skincare routine. Otherwise, if you don’t understand your skin, you might end up using the wrong routine or products, which can cause problems like acne, dryness, irritation, or redness.
How to Identify Your Skin Type at Home: Identify your skin type by using one of these two common methods :
The Bare-Faced (Watch and Wait) Method: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, pat it dry, and wait 30–60 minutes without applying any products:
- Oily: Shiny appearance all over.
- Dry: Feels tight, rough.
- Normal: Feels comfortable; no visible oil.
- Combination: Shiny only in the “T-zone” (forehead, nose, chin)
- Sensitive: Red, itchy, or stinging sensations
The Blotting Sheet Method: After waiting an hour post-cleansing, press blotting papers (or a clean tissue) against your face in various areas.
- Oily: The sheet picks up oil from most areas
- Combination: Oil is only on the T-zone portion.
- Dry/Normal: no oil residue on the paper.
Overview Of Basic Skincare Routine
The three basic skincare steps are cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection.
STEP 1. Cleansing
The first and most important step in any skincare routine is Cleansing. Throughout the day, your skin collects dirt, oil, sweat, and pollution. Therefore, a Cleanser helps remove dirt and keeps your skin healthy and fresh. In addition, it is important to choose a cleanser according to your skin type.
You should cleanse your face two times a day – once in the morning and once at night. Using a gentle face wash helps keep your skin fresh and clean. Moreover, it also helps to prevent pimples and dull skin.
Lastly, be gentle while washing your face, as harsh rubbing can harm your skin.
STEP 2. MOISTURIZING
After washing your face, your skin can feel dry, so you need a moisturizer. Moisturizing helps your skin feel smooth and healthy. Moisturizing also helps to prevent dryness, roughness, and irritation.
No matter your skin type, everyone needs a moisturizer. Just choose the right one – creamy for dry skin and light for oily skin.
STEP 3. SUNSCREEN
Using sunscreen helps keep your skin safe and healthy. Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays. Too much sunlight can cause tanning, dark spots, and skin damage.
Apply sunscreen every day, even when it is cloudy or indoors. Use it after moisturizer.
Tips: Reapply sunscreen every 2 – 3 hours if you are outside.
